Please give me some ideas as to stuff to do with kids in Lexington Kentucky on a Saturday afternoon & evening?
I will be traveling to Lexington on Saturday, June 21st. I have 4 kids ranging in age from 4-8. My travel companion has 4 kids ages 2-10. We are looking for some things to do with the kids. Stuff like zoos, parks, carnivals, amusement parks and children's museums are favorable. Money is not a huge issue, but of course cheaper is better. Also, what is a good, kid-friendly hotel to stay in?

Things to do... -Several great city park pools (Southland and Woodland Parks specifically) are cheap, but will be crowded because they are so popular -Lexington Children's Museum http://www.explorium.com/ -Two city "nature" parks (McConnell Springs Nature Center and Raven Run Nature Sanctuary) as well as the University's Arboretum http://www.lfucg.com/parks/mcconnell.asp http://www.lfucg.com/parks/raven.asp http://www.ca.uky.edu/arboretum/ -The Kentuck Horse Park (link includes daily activities list) http://www.kyhorsepark.com/sub.php?pageid=36§ionid=2 -Local horse farms, distillery/farms, and Toyota all offer local tours -Lots of movie theaters. -If you're a reader, you must check out Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Huge selection, kids reading program, and a cafe with an outdoor patio overlooking a pond with ducks, geese, and fish. Nice place to take the kids on a spring day. On June 21 the bookstore is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Corduroy Bear series from 11-1; it's free and Corduroy is scheduled to be there. http://www.josephbeth.com/Default.aspx?tabindex=4&tabid=154&storeId=1 Places to eat... -Lexingtonians love to eat out! Most places happily welcome kids. I don't think anyone has a kids free night on Saturdays. Because we love to eat out, it's not unusual for there to be a wate at most restaurants on a Saturday. Definately call ahead with a large party like yours. Places to stay... -Most chain hotels are accepting of kids. I haven't been to the Holiday Inn in many years, but as a kid I used to love having out of town relatives stay there so that we could visit the Holidome: an indoor center with a pool, whirlpool, sauna, shuffle board, exercise facilities, ping pong, virtual reality electronic games, outdoor sand volleyball and indoor basketball; not sure if they still have indoor putt-putt. This hotel is close to the I-75/I-64 interchange. http://hilexingtonnorth.com/ Our summer so far has been hazy, hot, and humid, dress lightly. But we've also had some big storms this week, so be prepared for that too (temps, dropped 20 degrees in less than an hour this afternoon). General Info: http://www.visitlex.com/

About Where are the best beaches to hit if traveling from Lexington, VA

Where are the best beaches to hit if traveling from Lexington, VA?
We're looking to travel no more than 5-6 hours, preferably. As for entertainment, we'd like something relaxing, but that has upbeat activities in the vicinity. IE: We can chill on the beach OR hit a few clubs! I mean this for the upcoming summer - not now!

Their official tourism site might help. See below:

It really depends on what you're into. You could visit the Kentucky Horse Park or maybe go to a UK game at Rupp arena.

Really depends on your interests. Some popular thoughts: 1) horses - of course. Some really beautiful horse country around lexington. Head to the Kentucky Horse Park or reserve a tour at one of the multi-million dollar horse farms in the surrounding area. 2) bourbon - several distilleries within driving distance, many with tours and tastings 3) Restaurants - downtown has some fun and unique spots, as does the area surrounding the University of Kentucky campus...there are two major retail areas (Hamburg and Fayette mall) that have a good selection of chain restaurants (PF Chang's, Johnny Carino's, Bonefish Grill, etc) 4) Movies: several multiplexes, including those in Hamburg and Fayette Mall, but the most unique is the Kentucky theatre - an historic downtown theatre that features cult favorites, indie choices, and other not-run-of-the-mill movies 5) University/basketball - you can always tour the campus and the UK basketball museum 6) Toyota plant - tour the plant in nearby Georgetown and see where the Camry's are made woo-hoo! 7) Historic areas - several historic estates and neighborhoods in the city if you are interested in architecture or history 8) Music/Clubs - quite a few to choose from, including the typical college clubs and some more laidback places. The dame downtown has some good music features. 9) Outdoors - if you have a few days, there are some great outdoors activities within a close radius, from canoeing to hiking the scenic Red River Gorge 10) Arts - several great galleries and museums, as well as the Philharmonic, opera, and local theatre companies. And check out ticketmaster for national tours stopping at Rupp Arena. If you have more specific interests, there are a lot more things. Lexington is a small city but does have some interesting places. Good luck!

Cheap travel from Lexington KY to Georgetown KY, how?
I don't have a car & I have a job interview in Georgetown - Scott county in KY. I live in Lexington KY & I need to find a cheap way to get there (other than asking a friend). Is there a bus or something that goes there? & how much do you think a TAXI ride would cost? the distance is about 20 miles.

If you don't have a car, how do you intend to get to this job if you GET this job? If you don't want to ask a friend or relative, I would take the taxi, but when you get there, you need to tell the interviewer that you have no transportation.

I suggest asking your friends to drive you and go on a roadtrip
